MIRANDA HOUSE HAS BEEN RANKED NO.1 AMONG COLLEGES BY NIRF RANKING 2023

In the academic session 2016-17, a series of events were organized in the department.

  • In the session 2017-18, Bridge Course on Laboratory Instrumentation: Principle, Usage and Applications was organized on 16-21, August, 2017 for the first year students of B.Sc. (H) Zoology.
  • DBT- Star sponsored students workshop on Understanding our Environment: Human interference was organized on 18th August, 2017.
  • Prof. B.K. Thelma delivered inaugural lecture on "Manoeuvering the Human Genome from GATC to Genome Medicine: An Unending Excitement" on 14th September, 2017.
  • DBT-Star sponsored workshop for undergraduate students on "Immunoinformatics for Rational Vaccine Design" was organized from September 18-22, 2017.
  • In session 2016-17, Dr. Tripti Sharan, consultant Gynaecologist at BLK Superspeciality Hospital delivered the Inaugural Lecture on Gynaecological Concerns in Young Adults on 14 September, 2016.
  • One-day Medical Biotechnology colloquium was organized on 4 November, 2016 for undergraduate students under DBT Star College Scheme. The event included motivational talks from eminent speakers like Prof Atul K Johri (JNU), Dr. Avinash Bajaj (RCB), Dr. Jameel A Khan (Lifecode Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
  • A symposium on Art of Grant Writing for undergraduate science teachers was organized by Department of Zoology and D.S. Kothari Centre for Research and Innovation in Science Education, Miranda House from 5- 6 January 2017 under DBT Star College Scheme.
  • A field visit to a few shallow man-made lakes in Delhi i.e., Sanjay Lake (Mayur Vihar), Old Fort Lake (Mathura Road) and Naini Lake (Model Town) was organized on 1 February 2017 under DBT star College Project entitled Limnological studies on shallow lakes in Delhi.
  • A workshop on Spirometry was organized on 16 February 2017 in the Department. Mr. Yuvraj Dhingra from Galaxy Informatics India brought the instrument Spirometer to explain its principle and mechanism of working to students of B.Sc. (H) Zoology.
  • Synapse celebrated its annual festival Impulse on 6 April, 2017. The program started with an informative lecture by Professor T. R. Rao from IISER Mohali on Ecology and Evolution. A special session was organized on E-Waste in association with NGO, Chintan to spread awareness about E-waste disposal. The festival also included Debate, Brain teaser sessions and Treasure hunt with an active participation of students from various colleges and other departments in the college. The Department released its annual magazine Evolvere...the unfolding.
