MIRANDA HOUSE HAS BEEN RANKED NO.1 AMONG COLLEGES BY NIRF RANKING 2023
  • The Department is engaged in doing research in multidisciplinary context. The research is carried out by students of all strata i.e. undergraduates, postgraduates as well as Ph. D students.
  • Doctoral research is carried out at BioScience Research Laboratory that is largely supported by major research projects sponsored by DST, DBT and CSIR.
  • Various research projects like DU Innovation Projects, DU Star Innovation Projects and Summer Internship Projects are providing flavour of research to undergraduates.
  • Our research findings have been published in high impact international peer reviewed journals.
  • Two faculty members got teaching excellence award for innovation for DU innovation project MH-203.
  • Two Ph.D. degrees have been awarded in year 2016-17 and two Ph.D students are registered in the Bioscience Research Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. Sadhna Sharma.
  • Ms. Swati Singh, Ph.D Scholar received Bill and Mellinda Gates Foundation Global Health Travel Award to present her work in London.
  • Ms. Medha Singh, Ph.D. Scholar has been selected Novartis Biotechnology Leadership camp to be held in Hyderabad in December, 2017.
  • The Department has two working groups, Vaccine and Drug Discovery Group and Environmental Group. Vaccine and Drug Discovery Group is working on Modulation of Toll Like Receptor Signaling By Mycobacterium tuberculosis; Expression, Purification and Characterization of MymA Operon Protein Products of Mycobacterium tuberculosis; Molecular Cloning and Immunological Validation of Three Hypothetical Proteins of M. tuberculosis With Strong T-Cell Epitopes; and Therapeutic Potential of Medicinal Plants: Culture, Extraction, Physicochemical Characterization and Testing their Cytotoxic or Immune-Stimulatory Properties
  • Environment Group is working on Natural dyeing and antimicrobial finishing of textiles with an eco-friendly approach; Azo free Handmade Paper Making with emphasis on 4R's approach; Environmental Microbiology; Screening for antibiotic producers and xenobiotic degraders using a metagenomics approach; and Limnological studies on shallow lakes.
