As a top ranked college, Miranda House is the first choice of women students. As a constituent college of University of Delhi, which is a Central University, Miranda House admits students from across the country without any regional bias. Students admitted college meet the high eligibility criteria on their own merit. The college takes great pride in providing inclusive education, respecting diversity. It follows the reservation policy in education, in letter and in spirit. This entails reserving 15% seats for students from Scheduled Castes (SC); 7.5% for those from Scheduled Tribes (ST); and 27% seats for those from Other Backward Castes (OBC), as listed in the Central List, with parental income in the non-creamy layer (annual income of less than Rs. 6 lakh). Additionally, 3% seats are reserved on supernumerary basis for Persons with Disability (PwD).

The demographic profile of the college is increasingly that of the country. Students are aspirational and moving across India in search of the best educational opportunities. More than 60% are from outside of Delhi. A significantly large number of students have economically underprivileged or challenged backgrounds. Many of them have a single parent with low income; few have no parents or suffer sudden loss during the course of their studies.
