About the Conference

The world is focusing on Bioeconomy to promote sustainable development which is significantly dependent on advances in science, technology and innovation. Biotechnology can play a pivotal role in attaining many of the Sustainable Development Goals like genetically modified crops for better yield and quality (SDG1, SDG2); clean water accessibility and hygiene (SDG6); energy-efficient resources (SDG7); and one health (SDG3). This conference is being organized to provide a platform to eminent scientists, academicians, industrialists, entrepreneurs and students from India and abroad to discuss the latest innovations, developments and emerging trends in the vast realm of biotechnology. This will be instrumental in helping participants enrich each other with their knowledge and experience. Each day, participants will witness exemplary plenary and keynote lectures by eminent scientists and several invited talks on the thematic topics of the conference and beyond to address various global challenges, especially sustainable development, and their possible solutions. This conference will also provide an opportunity to budding scientists from both academia and industry to present oral/poster presentations and publish their research topics in abstract book.

About the College

Miranda House is top ranking college for last eight years in NIRF which affiliated with the University of Delhi with an A++ NAAC grade. About the Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology has recently completed 50 years of its establishment. The Department boasts of having highly qualified and motivated faculty who are experts in their fields. They are recipients of various prestigious International and National awards/fellowships. The Department focuses on providing deep understanding of classical as well as advanced knowledge of the subject to their students. Research is one of the best practices carried out by the Department in the form of several in-house projects that are being run by the faculty through various extramural grants from DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, etc. The focus areas in the Department for research are Drug Designing, Immunology, Drosophila Biology, Gut Microbiology, Bioaerosols and Nanotechnology. The Department has well- equipped laboratories for Biochemistry, Physiology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology and Immunology with high-end equipments like RT-PCR, Biosafety facilities, Cold centrifuge, CO 2 incubator, Deep freezers, etc. The Department publishes many research papers, book chapters, popular articles and edited notes in reputed journals. The Department Society Synapse is involved in organizing a number of academic activities such as workshops, conferences, seminars, debates, quizzes, lecture series and educational visits, from time to time.

Objectives

  • To establish a unified platform for multidisciplinary research, as well as for exploring the research, current technology, techniques and solutions in Biotechnology.
  • To have worldwide insightful lecture sessions and discussions with eminent scientists and researchers from this field.
  • To provide a platform to the participants for presenting their innovative research ideas and work in the form of oral presentations and poster presentations.

  • Understanding the multidisciplinary research approach in the area of Biotechnology and its applications.
  • To foster collaboration and coordination among the stakeholders for the promotion and development of newer products and methods for the Environment and human welfare.
  • Enhancement of industry-academia collaborations for the start-ups and incubation centers at the college or university level.
  • Knowledge and understanding enhancement of faculty and students engaged with the Core Courses: Animal Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics etc., DSE courses: Nanotechnology, and Generic Elective Courses (GE): Animal Cell Biotechnology, Lifestyle Disorders, and Food, Nutrition, and Health of University of Delhi.
