Department Society

Arthashastra is the Economics Society of Miranda House, catering exclusively to the 270+ students pursuing an Honours degree in the field. Serving as more than a department society, it is a collective of thinkers, innovators, writers, creators and more, evidenced by the society's diverse verticals. These include Vishleshan, the research and discussion vertical, which conducts its annual Research Paper Programme for the students; The Editorial Board, which publishes articles, insights, papers, and conducts interviews with renowned figures such as Prof. Noam Chomsky, Prof. Ashwini Deshpande and Manu S. Pillai, to name a few, on its blog Ecotalker and Aapoorti, the Annual Economics Journal, now on its 11th edition. The Career Cell facilitates the alumnae network, helps students explore varied career and academic prospects, also maintains its own informative blog and the society also initiated the Zero Down Podcast team, whose podcasts on relevant topics can be found on Spotify and Hubhopper. Additionally, Arthashastra is home to Marketing, Sponsorship, Logistics and Design Verticals, whose year-round contributions, especially with respect to social media, event management and funding culminate in our highly awaited and reputed Annual Economics Conclave, Zenith.
