Bridge Course

As has been the practice, the Department of Chemistry conducted a Bridge Course virtually on Laboratory Safety and Handling of Equipment for B. Sc. (Honours) Chemistry and B. Sc. (Life Sciences) I Semester students in mid November 2021. Dr. Amrita Tripathi Sheikh, Dr. Sharda Mahilkar Sonkarand, Dr. Mallika Pathak were the coordinators of this course. During the course, faculty members involved explained the safety measures in the laboratory, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of chemicals, calibration of glassware, use of desiccators, crucibles(G-3,G-4 and silica), semi micro kit, steam bath, water bath, sand bath, instruments such as colorimeter, pH meter, conductance bridge, magnetic stirrer, centrifuge machine, fume hood, electric oven and furnace, electronic balance, melting point apparatus etc. A manual covering all topics discussed was prepared and given to all the registered students. On the last day, a short quiz was also conducted and e-certificates of participation were distributed.
