Nanochemistry is a subject that is connected to almost all branches of chemistry including Biomedical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Product Synthesis, Pharmaceutical Industry, Materials Chemistry, Electronic Device Components, Light-Emitting Materials etc. A number of universities and national laboratories have research programs that focus on nanochemistry, nanophysics and nanotechnology. Keeping this in mind, the Department of Chemistry, Miranda House offers its students a 60-hour nanochemistrycourse. The course is open not only to students from Miranda House but also students of other colleges within the University of Delhi North Campus. Every year, on an average, twenty-five students attend, and successfully complete, the certificate course. The course covers lecture by invited speakers as well as the faculty of the department/college, laboratory sessions, a field visit and presentations by the participating students on topics related to nanochemistry.
