Enactus (ENtrepreneurial ACTion for others, Creates a better world for US all) Miranda House laid its foundation in 2011 with an aim to lend a helping hand to the society. Over the years, we have tried to make changes in the lives of those who have been marginalised for so many years by the society. Some of our previous projects are Project Pehchaan, Project Zaffran and Project Pick with Pride. Currently, we are running three programs in full swing- Project Dhreya, Project Ikhtiyaar and Project Dharang. Project Dhreya promotes cleaner energy while tackling the problem of stubble burning. The aim is to make efficient usage of crop waste by converting them into biomass briquettes and ensure that ‘waste does not go in waste’. Project Ikhtiyaar aims to clean River Ganga while using water hyacinth from it to make manure.
Project Dharang tackles the issue of single-use plastic, fast fashion and carbon emissions by producing eco friendly, durable and sustainable cotton cloth tote bags. These tote bags are sewn and made by retired anganwadi workers and housewives who were adversely impacted by the Covid 19 pandemic.
We, at Enactus try to understand the social problems that are deep-rooted in our society and try to find solutions to them. Our team is selected through a rigorous process including written assessment, group discussions and personal interview. When the vision goes beyond achieving success, true change begins. Our inspiration comes from the knowledge that besides pioneering social changes, our commitment extends to making this world a better place.
